The Significance of the 1830 U.S. Census
bullet  Names were listed for head of household and slave owners.
bullet  Each entry included a count of free white males and females, and number of slaves, male and female according to age group.
bullet  Counts of foreigners (not naturalized citizens), and those deaf, dumb, or blind were included for the first time.
bullet  Native Americans were not enumerated, unless they were tax payers.
bullet  Original records are missing for some counties in Massachussets, Maryland, and Mississippi.
