for the descendants of

Zebulon HESTON and Dorothy HUTCHINSON

____________________

OUR FOUNDATION ON THIS HOMEPAGE

The HESTON FAMILY ASSOCIATION will be for the descendants of Zebulon HESTON and Dorothy HUTCHINSON. Zebulon Heston arrived in Eastham, Barnstable Co, MA from England in 1684. By using this website for Family Newsletters and Family Reunions, we will rekindle the bonds of our HESTON Family which began when our ancestors Zebulon and Dorothy got married on 3 DEC 1698 in Hutchinson Manor, Burlington County, New Jersey.

HESTON Family Reunion Part - 1

On Friday, Jan 27, 2017 at 2:30 PM, Earl Kumfer wrote email message:

This year’s Heston Reunion, here again in Fort Wayne, IN, will be held on Friday and Saturday, June 9 & 10. The Allen County Public Library staff and administrators welcomed us back officially just a week ago. We will have access to a great facility to use for our presentations, meetings and any individual research. Helpful professional librarian/genealogists will also be available for consultation. The ACPL genealogy department’s staff and holdings is the 2nd best genealogy library in the country, 2nd only to that at Salt Lake City......

Additionally, the Genealogy Department has a strong partnership with the Lincoln papers department.....

.....I mention this in conjunction with inviting you to come to the Heston Family Reunion and sharing this or other artifacts or topics of interest with Heston descendants. I am just now trying to put together an agenda of schedule presentations as part of the reunion. If interested, I am confident I can also make arrangements with some of the genealogy and Lincoln staffs for a private consultation. This might be better scheduled some time before or after the reunion itself.

In any case, come met and swap stories and research with other Heston descendants, enjoy a professional baseball game, enjoy our revived inner city, good food, etc. I will put you on our email list so you can get details.

HESTON Family Reunion Part - 2

To Martin J. Bellard

Hi Martin,

About a week ago I got confirmation the ACPL Genealogy Department, okaying our scheduling the reunion again this year at the ACPL..... with a baseball game featuring the Padres farm team, the Tincaps, on either night.

The schedule should be close to the timetable for last year. And I am hoping that we will have at least a half dozen presentations.

Please post the dates and place of the reunion on your internet site.

I need to get your email list back to you, identifying which were returned unreceived — meaning folks who changed email addresses.

Thanks for forwarding names and messages. I have been in contact with them, and other already about the dates.

I trust you are recovering quickly. I hope you are able to get back to your tree data and can catch up with it all.

Earl

Martin,

I trust your recovery is still progressing well. And that you will be able to attend this year’s meeting.

.....what handouts or projection would you like to use? I suggest you plan a 15 or 20 minute presentation; routinely, I book an added 15 minutes for question and answer.

If you are not wanting to do this topic, what would you like to do: another topic, telling a story, helping folks in the resource rooms, research on your own difficult spots in the tree? Or,…...

And I hope you like a good professional baseball game.

On another tack. Could you prepare a one-page maximum sheet with information on the Association and the website, send it to me by mid-May, for inclusion in a packet to be given to all participants? I would be much appreciated; and might help your cause.

More later, Earl

HESTON Family Reunion Part - 4

On Wednesday Apr 5, 2017, at 5:43 PM, Martin J. Bellard wrote email message:

To Earl Kumfer

Hi Earl,

My presentation was originally about how to teach HESTON Family Research for teenagers. Knowing that there would probably be few if any teenagers at the family reunion; I was thinking of talking to the adults about the importance of teaching the next generation of teenagers who will be doing this someday. I got the idea because I had started genealogy research as a 14 year old teenager myself many years ago.

A few weeks ago, I had an interesting idea of a different topic that I would prefer doing. I decided that I wanted to talk about our HESTON ancestors who took the bold courageous decision of taking up arms against the British in the Revolutionary War even though they were Quakers who normally do not do that because of their religious believes in living peaceful lives.

I have done research on this topic. In our HESTON Family these are the ancestors who joined the military in the Revolutionary War: Isaiah HESTON, Edward Warner HESTON, Thomas M. HESTON, and John LACEY, III. Also, our own ancestor John BELLARD (or BALLARD) served in the War from Pennsylvania. I have not been able to find the location of his gravestone in Ohio. He married Sarah HESTON, the daughter of Zebulon HESTON III (Farmer) and Sarah BURGESS who he met during the war.

I will be going to the library on their computer soon where I will be preparing the one page of information for the HESTON website to mail to you for the HESTON Family Reunion.

your cousin,

Martin

BEFORE OUR WEBSITE

I am Martin J. BELLARD, a HESTON Family descendant. My four-great-grandparents are John BALLARD (or BELLARD) and Sarah HESTON, the great-granddaughter of Zebulon HESTON and Dorothy HUTCHINSON. I began my Genealogy Research in AUG 1970 when I was a young teenager. I first found out, in DEC 1998, about my HESTON Family ancestors. And I found out, in DEC 2000, about our cousin John P. HESTON, the Editor and Publisher of the HESTON HISTORIAN newsletters and directories written from 1957 to 1961, as well as the three Annual National HESTON Family Reunions which he had organized - 1959 in Pennsylvania, 1960 in Iowa, and 1961 in California.

I became so inspired by the work of John P. HESTON, that I decided to become actively involved with the HESTON Family with Newsletters and Reunions. The first thing that I did was to research thru several of the past years of EVERTON'S GENEALOGICAL HELPER Magazine which annually lists Family Associations, Family Newsletters, and Family Reunions. To my dismay, I discovered nothing listed for the HESTON Family.

So, on JAN 7, 2001 Sunday evening, I established the HESTON FAMILY ASSOCIATION with plans for future Newsletters and Reunions. This is all from the inspiration by the work of John P. HESTON (1911 - 1970), of Allen Park, Michigan. This began with a listing which I placed in the Everton's Genealogical Helper in their MAR/APR 2001 issue. I placed another listing for the HESTON FAMILY ASSOCIATION in the EVERTON'S FAMILY HISTORY (Magazine's new name) in their MAR/APR 2002 issue.
