Bus Tour

A bus tour of sites and memorabilia with Herrick history is planned for Friday. The tour will be led by Fred Hammond of the Beverly Historical Society. A luxury touring coach will take us from site to site around the Salem area. The sites will include Herrick Rock, Herrick Bridge, and Herrick and Balch homes. We will stop for lunch along the way. The cost of the lunch is not included in the cost of the bus trip. This tour will help you see where the Herricks started when they arrived in Salem and where they moved. You will also get a feel for some of the hardships they endured.

Research

The Salem area is rich with research venues. The Balch family is having a weekend reunion and we will be able to join in on programs and research opportunities. The Cabot House that houses the Beverly Genealogical Society will be open all weekend. You can conduct research there or tour through and look at the antiquities like the Herrick chair and the Herrick trunk. The Beverly Historical Society has a local tour on Sunday that is open to our group.

The NEHGS is nearby in Boston. The Peabody Essex Museum is 3 or 4 blocks from the Hawthorne Hotel. Pioneer Village a little farther from the hotel but can be reached on foot.
