Lannerd Family History

1. A Lannerd (Lannert) whose Christian name is unknown, came to the Colony of New York, with a family, and other children were born in America.  They came over in the early 1780's.  The head of the family seems to have enlisted in the Revolutionary Army, but immigrating at the time he did, his enlistment was late during the war.  As an enlisted soldier, he arrived on the battlefield of one of the latest battles in time to help bury the dead.  He was never in a battle.  He probably moved to Pennsylvania Colony later, with his family.
2. A Lannerd, born in America, Christian name unknown, in mature years and as a married man, lived in Pennsylvania.  A tradition has it that his name was Andrew.  To them were born several children, seemingly four or five.  The mother died when the youngest was a mere baby and the oldest a very young lad.  Some of the children, known by name, are Elizabeth, George, and John; there was also a daughter whose name is unknown, and perhaps another son.  After the mother died, the father put out into homes two or three of the younger children, because he could not care for them.  Then the father in early life, died within a year after the mother's death, and the older children were also placed into other families; some of them were adopted and others were reared as foster children.
3. The older daughter married a man by the name of Stover; she was the mother of Mrs. Devine of Miamiburg, Ohio, who, with some of her daughters frequently visited among the Lannerds near Cambridge City. One of her daughters, Lula, married Gus Moore of Mt. Auburn, Ind., just west of Cambridge City.  One of the Lannerd sons, presumably John, married, and among their children were John, George, and Rebecca.
4. George Lannerd of north of Cambridge City, Ind., was a son of the Lannerd, born in America, and who resided in Pennsylvania, and died while his children were all young.  Barbara Lannerd Zeigler said her father, George Lannerd thought his father's name was Andrew.  He recalled that he had a sister named Elizabeth and a brother named John.   He could only vaguely remember his father.  After his father's death, he was placed into another home as a foster child, and so retained the name Lannerd.  He called his foster mother "Meistress".
