Family story from Mary Eliza Baker Ranney, granddaughter of Abiel Baker. Told to her when she was 15 years old (1853) by her aunt, Sarah Baker Fuller. Her father came across the Atlantic to America at age 3 years. His parents died on the trip and were buried at see. The child gave his name as Abiel Baker. He was taken to Providence, Rhode Island where he grew up, married, and raised a family. His wife's name was Lois Swan and children of this family were named: John, Arnold, Abiel, William, Sarah and Eliza. There may have been other children as Sarah Baker Fuller often spoke of an old bachelor brother. These are all Mary Ranney remembers about. This family grew up in Providence, RI.
