Abraham Stibbe worked as 'Adjudant onder-officier der Infanterie van het leger in Nederlandsch-Indië' until 1890; and afterwards as 'Klerk' (=clerk, but according to memories of family members he was 'portier' (janitor) of a police station in the center of Amsterdam) until his retirement in 1916.
