Notes for Frederic DINKEL
Frederick Dinkel was born in Germany [on] March 15, 1854. He came to the United States with his parents. His father settled in Hartford Township (now Long Prairie) on a farm hoemstead in 1867. Frederick came to Long Prairie about 1873. He lived on the farm nearly all his life, although he also had a meat market in Long Prairie.

He was an avid hunter and an excellent markman. When cutting wood, his rifle was always near at hand. He shot deer, bears and wolves. The meat was consumed by the family while trophies and rugs were made from the hides and heads.

Frederick died April 2, 1917 of what was diagnosed at that time as stomach cancer. He was buried from St. Mary's Church in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
