| Notes for Elizabeth Ursula WAHLS |
| Her father died in 1878 so she spent much time with the Albers near New Munich. Great Grandmother Albers taught her to give passing Indians white bread. Later employed at Kenosha, WI, then married John Botz of Sauk Centre. Town of Freeport, included Church grounds, built almost entirely on her father's homestead. Her mother, Mary married Charles Micklish. Elizabeth Street was named after her. About 1930 she moved to Minneapolis to be with her children. She loved her family deeply. She was a woman of deep faith, piety and wisdom. Was a mother to many. Many friends, open house of hospitality; poor, troubled too. Enjoyed song and humor, despite hard days, suffering and poverty. Sang Marian hymn December 8 on deathbed. Last Mass on feastday 19 November 1954 from sickbed. Died in St. Cloud hospital. Buried in Freeport, Sacred Heart Cemetary beside John.83 |
