| Notes for John Frederick BOTZ |
He had a business school education and owned a farm near St. Rosa. He also had a harness and shoe shop at Freeport. Carpenter, builder, fine cabinetmaker (built many entire farm places, New Munich Parochial school, worked a Teacher's College, St. Cloud - where he broke both legs when the scaffold collased, also Benet Hall, St. John's where he caught an pneumonia in 1921, breaking his health. Was Jusice of the Peace for 30 years at Freeport. Member of Fire Department, Active in Civic affiars. He returned to shoemaking in his last years in New Munich.
His children enjoyed the hertiage of a wonderful home and parents, who loved people, did things for them, and were active in parish and community. There were no dull moments in a loving home: garden, goods, and neark lakes, pickeing nuts and berries, making sausages, putting up fruit for the winter, chopping wood, occasional hunting and fishing, visiting relatives, always guests because "John and Lizzie" were known and loved everywhere.83 |
