Mr. Grover Cleveland Chester, 91, of 811 Aumond Place E., died Thursday, January. 14, 1999, at his residence. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Westover Memorial Park with the Rev. Richard Short officiating. Mr. King, a native of Washington County, Ga., had retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad as an assistant station master. He was an amateur horticulturist and a member of the Southern California Camellia Society, the Aiken Camellia Society and the American Camellia Society, where he had registered several new varieties of the flower. He was a member of Zerubbabel Lodge 15 Free and Accepted Masons, Savannah; the York Rite Bodies, Savannah; and the Alee Temple Shrine, Savannah. He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Grover Carmie Chester, Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter, Jean Fitzgerald Kernaghan, Augusta; and eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Children's Home of Georgia, P.O. Box 4183, Macon, GA 31208, or to the American Camellia Society Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 212, Fort Valley, GA 31030. Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez, is in charge of arrangements.
