Farmed and was a preacher.  Entered the War between the States and was gone from home for 3+ years.  During that time, his wife kept the farm & the children.  When he returned home, he picked up where he left off - planting & preaching.

ABSALOM SCARBOROUGH,  born July 14, 1830 in Bulloch County, Georgia, died April 7, 1922 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Married (1) DAMARIS CLIFTON December 24, 1849 in Bulloch County, Georgia, daughter of JOHN CLIFTON and EUNICE STANSIL.  Born June 14, 1830 in Emanuel County, Georgia, died May 25, 1883 in Bulloch County, Georgia.  Married (2) REBECCA KATHLEEN SIKES April 20, 1884 in Bryan County, Georgia, daughter of SAMUEL SIKES and ELIZABETH SMITH.  Born December 4, 1845 in Bryan County, Georgia, died December 27, 1913 in Bulloch County, Georgia.

Memorium - Absalom SCARBOROUGH was born in Bulloch Co., July 14, 1830, oldest son of THEOPHILUS and Mary SCARBOROUGH.  He married Miss. Damaris Clifton of Emanuel Co., December 24, 1849.  To this union 6 sons and 3 daughters were born; Malcolm S., George M., Joseph A., James H., Absalom, Jr., Jason, Adeline, Melissa and Effie.  His first wife died in 1883.  In 1884 he married Miss Rebecca Sikes of Bryan County, Ga.  To this union were born one son and two daughters, Bert, Birdie, and Blonnie.  His second wife died December 27, 1913.  He was a Confederate veteran.  He died April 7, 1922, age 91 years, 8 mos. and 23 days.  He was buried at Poplar Springs Church.

JASON SCARBORO, b. May 5, 1863; d. February 25, 1932.
SARAH MARY MALLISSA SCARBORO, b. May 14, 1869; d. December 14, 1946.

 

EFFA SANORE ABSLE SCARBORO, b. January 8, 1872; d. November 5, 1896, Bulloch County, Georgia; m. WILEY WILLIAM DELOACH; b. January 4, 1869, Bulloch County, Georgia; d. November 16, 1938, Bulloch County, Georgia.  No Children.  Birth date taken from tombstone.  (Eastside Cemetery).
