There's a story that Claude Butler Lashley was named after his step-great grandfather, 'Butler.'  The name handed down through the family has been Benjamin Butler, (he of 'Spoons' fame).

General Butler's life has been too well documented and there's no record of this liaison, so this line of thinking goes nowhere, but...

The Hamilton County Florida Court House lists a marriage of one Sarah Buttler married W. N. Bullard.

There's also 1 listing of Sarah Ann Frier married J. F. Butler then marrying William W. Bullard in 1866 online at
