William Taylor was estimated to have been born say 1725 probably at ?Clayach, CAI, SCT.1 He and Janet Smith were estimated to have married say 1745 ?Watten, CAI, SCT, (not obvious on my igi download).2,3
William Taylor died aft. Dec 1771 probably at ?Clayach, Par. of Bower, CAI, SCT.1
Fr Aug 1746 - Oct 1752 William Taylor and Janet Smith were living at Wester Watten, CAI, SCT.2,4 On 5 Nov 1770 at Bower, CAI, SCT, William Taylor was a cautioner at the marriage of David McBeath and Jean Taylor; cert. reads: David MacBeath in Clayach & Jane Taylor there gave in their names as matrimonially contracted in order to have proclamation of Banns, George MacBeath for the man & Willm (no surname, but assumed to be her father, or poss. her brother) for the woman Cautioner that they shall implement their sd design under the penalty of 10 £scots.5,6 On 8 Dec 1771 in the Par. of Wick, CAI, SCT, William Taylor was a cautioner at the marriage of William Taylor and Isabella Finlayson; entry reads: Dec 8th 1771.William Taylor & Isobel Finlayson both of Clayach gave in their names as matrimonially contracted in order to have proclamation of banns. As cautioners William Taylor for the man and James Finlayson for the woman (assumed to be respective fathers given the naming pattern of the subsequent children).1
