Ralph A. Hendershott, 74, East Lampeter Twp. leader. Ralph A. Hendershott, 74, died at Brethern Village Monday after a long illness. Mr. Hendershott was chairman of East Lampeter Township Zoning Hearing Board for 35 years. He owned Village Press for 30 years. A retired U.S. Army colonel, he had servied 43 years in the military, including service in the Korean War. He was a battalion commander for the 103rd Medical Battalion of the Pennsylvania National Guard and commanding officer of the 1073rd Support Group (Rtu.) He was a member of the military and the reservie officers associations. He belonged to Bird-In-Hand United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping, boating, crabbing, golf, hunting and traveling.
Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late Delbert and Edna Mae Glinke Hendershott. He graduated from Millersville University in 1956. He was married 52 years to Shirley Thompson Hendershott. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Donna, wife of Douglas Sherlock of Parkesburg. and Diane, wife of Richard Nichklaus of Lancaster; two sons, Randy, husband of Barbara Hendershott of Ronks, and Rodney of Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a sister, Loretta, wife of James Keller of Lancaster.
