Funeral Saturday
Funeral services were read Saturday, May 15, in the chapel of Macy
and Son for Mable Garrison, 73, with graveside services under direction
of the Pythian Sisters at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Garrison was the daughter of George Hendershott and Randilla
Almira Wiles and was born December 26, 1880 in Russell, Kansas. Her late
husband, Fred M. Garrison died in 1936. Survivors include two
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jessie Davis and Mrs. Kunnie Hendershott, both of
McMinnville.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of Presbyterian Church and Circle,
Pythian Sisters, Order of Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Grand Army of the
Republic, Women's Relief Corps and Spanish American War Auxillary.

Funeral Rites for Spanish War
Veteran Held Today
Fred M. Garrison, 61, a native of McMinville and veteran of the
Spanish American war, died suddenly at the McMinville hospital Monday
morning. He was stricken suddenly Sunday with intestinal obstruction,
and succumbed Monday before surgical aid could be performed.
Born a mile west of McMinnville Sept. 6, 1874, he was the son of
Joseph M. and Louisa Jane Garrison. At the age of 6 he accompanied his
parents to Moscow, Ida., returning at the age of 17 to reside at Amity.
After serving in the Spanish American war in 1898-99, he returned to
McMinnville and lived here continuously since. He married Mabel
Hendershott in 1904.
Surviving are the widow; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Mizer, of this
city; one brother, Royal of Pocatello, Ida., and four nephews. He was an
active member of the Elks' lodge and Bert J. Clark camp, Spanish war
veterans.
Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon from the
Ladd-Whitfield funeral home with the Rev. O.R. Vincent officiating.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial park under the auspices of the Elks.
