Harold F. Hendershot
Harold F. Hendershot passed away quietly in his sleep on January 7, 2005 at
age 89 ( WEH page 144-clan C3). His wife, Leoda, Died in May of 1999.
Survived by myself, son, Frederick Alfred Hendershot (WEH page 125-error in
birth date, should read September 8, 1937--also daughter's name is spelled
Karissa Darese), and my brother John Frank Hendershot (WEH page 245), his
two sons and two great grand children
Harold Frederick Hendershot, born in Wood county WV, north of
Parkersburg. Attended Marshall College in Huntington, WV , where he
met and married Leoda Mary Ostazewski (Americanized to Ostoski) from
Logan County. Went to work with the International Nickel Company's
rolling mill in Huntington as inspector. Promoted to Metallurgist,
Director of Research, then Vice President of the Huntington plant.
Was transferred to the INCO head office in New York City as President
of the Rolling Mill Division, overseeing plants in Japan, England and
Huntington, WV. He led a team of specialists in nickel alloys on a
visit to China in the mid 70's on one of the first visits by
outsiders to visit China's metal industries. He retired in 1980 and
spent winters in Sun City Center, Florida, south of Tampa, and
summers in Huntington, West Virginia
