Charles R. Hendershott, 65, of Scottsburg, died Friday (May 20, 1988) at his home following a long illness. He was born Aug. 5, 1922 in Groveland, son of Howard and Olive Carmichael Hendershott. He was married to the former Alice Wester for 39 years. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an operating engineer through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Rochester Local 832. He was a member and elder of the Wayland Congregation of the Jehovah's Witnesses. In addition to his wife and his parents of Scottsburg, survivors include five sons, Daniel of Rochester, David of Shawanese, Pa., Timothy of Springwater, John of Walkhill and Chuck of Scottsburg; three daughters, Marilyn Morgan of Dansville, Beth Miller of Scottsburg and Jule Hendershott of Scottsburg; a brother, Leo of Scottsburg; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Saturday at the Wayland Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses with Gordon Cotie officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Groveland. Arrangements are by the Chamberlin Funeral Home in Dansville. Memorials may be made to the Wayland Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses Assembly Hall building fund.
