WHY HAVE CLANS? The purpose of clans is to promote communication between close cousins with common research interests. When they were set up the information from William E. Clan B Comments:
Michael 1712, whose descendants belong to this clan, is believed to have been born in New Jersey. He married
Elizabeth Schermerhorn about 1731. We know that he had at least nine children. Eight are mentioned in
his will filed in Sussex County, NJ in 1786: John, Elizabeth (Bemer), Cateren (Dennis), Casper, Jacob, William,
Sarah (Roof) and Suffiah (Roof). We know he also had a son, Michael, baptized at Rareton 23 April
1734 by .Rev. W. O. Berkenmeyer. Michael likely died before his father wrote his will.
