WHY HAVE CLANS?
The purpose of clans is to promote
communication between
close cousins with common
research interests. When they
were set up the information from
William E. Hendershott’s book
was used as the basis. [I will refer
to this reference as WEH].
Clan A is descendants of Casper
1699; Clan B descendants of
Michael 1712 and Clan C
descendants of John 1720.
We have listed the
clans and lineages that we know
of our current members. Please
check the information and send
your editor corrections and/or
additions. I hope you will also
make contact with researchers
working on you lines, compare
notes and then report to the
newsletter as you piece together
your Hendershot line.
Clan A:
Descendants of Casper 1699.
The number following the letter
identifies which son of Casper.
A1 Peter1733.
A2 Christopher 1734 (if a son)
A3 Baltes before 1735 (if)
A4 Jeremiah before 1738 (if)
A7 Casper before 1749 (if)
WEH tells us that only Peter is
identified as a son of Casper. He
believed the others were “almost
certain children since the children
of his brothers are well established.”
Today some researchers question
whether possibly Casper’s
brother Peter, whom it has been
assumed died at a young age,
grew to adulthood and perhaps
was the father of some children
ascribed to Casper.
