| Mark Helm of Texas has prepared a short descendant's chart of his
line shown below. This chart represents a beginning search for his
ancestors and Mark solicits suggestions for the extension of his line into
earlier Helm lines in Eastern and maybe Mid-Western sites. Very likely,
the family migrated from the East as the frontier moved westwards; so,
his ancestors probably took the same paths West as did thousands of others,
with stop-overs along the way. Hopefully, some of his line set down
roots along the way, which will permit a trace, and the finding of an origin.
One of our theories is to link his line to the family of Leonard
Helm of Frederick County, VA. Some families from that line
are known to have migrated westwards from Frederick County, VA.
Mark's focus in Texas is on Littleton Helm (1797-1868) as the first
of his line in Texas. His near ancestor, Littleton Helm, may
have been connected with South Carolina before going West. Assuming
a Littleton connection, that line may have originated with Sir Edward Littleton,
of Henley, Shropshire,
