Sniper Fells Bryant



   James Wesley Bryant, 20, a 1965 graduate of Okanogan high school, was reported killed by sniper fire in Viet Nam earlier this month.

   Bryant, a marine private first class, was on guard duty at a rest area in Viet Nam when felled by a sniper's bullet. He died later of the wound.

   Plans are being made for a military funeral here after the body arrives, in about two weeks.

   Bryant was the son of Mr. and Mr. Ernest Bryant, now of Omak. He grew up with an aunt, Nellie Bryant of Okanogan, as his foster mother and lived most of his life with her.

   Bryant was born April 25, 1946, at Omak.

   Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bryant; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Scott of Seattle; a brother Jay of Tacoma; and two sisters, Jeannine Kennedy of Tacoma and Terry Rae Welch of Seattle; his aunt, Nellie Bryant of Okanogan. A sister, Joanne preceded him in death.

   Funeral services are to be held at the Episcopal church. Arrangements are being made by William Barnes of Okanogan. Burial is to be in Omak Memorial Cemetery.
