Here we have snap shots of the Academy Methodist Church, and the entrance to the Academy Cemetery ... this cemetery is located on Hwy 168 northeast out of Clovis, CA the road turns into a freeway and then back to a country highway ... several miles out of Clovis, on the left hand side will be a sign "Academy Cemetery" it's a little bit past from the street called Academy Rd. that goes to the right ... the road [name not known] that has the cemetery sign dead-ends into the cemetery ... While on the Hwy 168, if you come to road side monument marker on the right, you just past the cemetery road :)

back out on hwy 168 and up a little further [past the road side monument marker on the right ] go to the next road that goes to the left, will take you to the Academy Methodist Church ... Joel Hedgpeth Jr. D.D. use to preach there ...

first services were held here in 1865 and the church building was erected in 1868 the church isn't on any historical register, due to the fact that the old sanctuary

has a stucco exterior coating, that was applied to keep the woodpeckers from damaging the building... and that's my tour guide on the right Charles W. Baley :)

This is the entrance gate to the Academy Cemetery, note the sign on the right referencing vandalism :( I understand the Baley graves were some of those that were damaged, but have since been restored ...

The Baley families here, of Gillum and William Right Baley, are the same ones who left Nodaway Co., MO with Joel Hedgpeth Sr. and family, on that eventful trip to California in 1858-59 ...
