The first documented Grabenhorsts to arrive in America were Brunswick Hessian mercenaries with the British forces during the American Revolution.

Christian Grabenhorst and his wife Minnie Werner and their family immigrated to America from Moellbergen, Minden, Westfalen, Germany in the 1840's. Their son Frederick and his descendents settled in Missouri.

The Descendents of Henry George Grabenhorst and (1) Johanne Rosine Waupke and (2) Anna Dorothea Elizabeth Brandes
Henry George Grabenhorst and and Dorothea Brandes and their family immigrated from Watzum, Braunschweig-Wolfenbuttel, Germany in 1850. He and his descendents settled in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Iowa and Oregon.

The Descendents of Dietrich Grabenhorst and Cathrenia Heimsoat
Dietrich Grabenhorst and Cathrenia Heimsoat immigrated with their family to America from Hanover, Germany in the mid 1860s.  He and his descendents settled in Illinois, Nebraska and Oregon.

A researcher in Germany, Joachim Gravenhorst, has been researching both the Grabenhorst and Gravenhorst name in Germany. He believes they are connected although he has not found the link yet. These are his Gravenhorst trees.
