I am researching SHORTEN mainly in the parishes of Salhouse and Sprowston in Norfolk.

John SHORTEN was born about 1766, and married Elizabeth THACKER on November 23, 1790 in Salhouse. The only John Shorten I can find to date, born around this time, is John Shorten bc 1790 of Blofield. If this is correct, then he would be the son of William Shorten bc 1727 in Blofield and Francis Tower bc 1731 in Blofield.

John Shorten and Elizabeth Thacker began their family in Salhouse, and then moved to Sprowston. The first children were born in Salhouse. The last three children were born in Sprowston.

Charles Thacker SHORTEN (known as Thacker SHORTEN) was Baptized May 14, 1795 in Salhouse. He married Mary FITT Oct 16, 1820 in Lakenham. Mary FITT was also Baptized in Salhouse. Their children are born in Trouse Milgate, Sprowston and Thorpe. I descend from their son John SHORTEN, Baptized 1823 in Trouse Milgate.

Sarah Ann....bc 1837. Married Charles SEAMAN.
George....bc 1840. Married Sarah JAMES.

John SHORTEN bc 1823 Trouse Milgate married Harriet WINTER, bc 1826 in Woodbastwick. The marriage took place in Thorpe. The first child was born in Thorpe. The remaining children were born in Sprowston. John SHORTEN and Harriet WINTER are my Great Great grandparents.
