GOODRUM

I am researching GOODRUM mainly in the parishes of Fundenhall and Gissing, Norfolk.
Related Goodrums can also be found in Ashwellthorpe, Wymondham, Tacolneston, Woodton, Norfolk as well as Westhall Suffolk. One branch emigrated to Fall River, Massachussetts, and from there to Rhode Island and California, USA.

In 1761 Elizabeth Goodrum was born to John Gooderham bc 1725 and his second wife, Elizabeth Buxton. Both of Elizabeth's parents were born in the parish of Gissing, NFK.

There is an entry in the Gissing AT's for the baptism of a John Gooderham Dec 19, 1725. This date makes this John a candidate to be the husband of Eizabeth Buxton and the father of Elizabeth Goodrum, but the connection is unproven. This John's parents were listed as Edward Goodderhum and Mary.

In a transcription of the surviving portions of the Gissing parish records, there is an entry for a marriage of Edward Gooderhum and Mary Munnings. The date is 1717. This couple may be Elizabeth Goodrum's (bc 1761) grandparents.

John Gooderham/Goodrum moved his family to the parish of Fundenhall, Norfolk, which is where his daughter Elizabeth would eventually raise her family of 10 children.

Elizabeth Goodrum, and her partner and eventual husband, James Turner, had the following children, all bearing their mother's surname of Goodrum. (James was already married. He did marry Elizabeth on 07 Apr 1812 in Fundenhall, after his first wife died.)

James...was born in 1781. I don't have any further record on James.
William...was born about 1784. He married Hannah Clarke in Westhall, SFK, and they would
have 9 children. William raised his family mainly in Fundenhall. William is my ancestor.
Richard...was born about 1786. He married Lydia Jessup and raised his family in Westhall SFK.
John...was born about 1789. He married Susan Mitchell, and I have no further information.
Ephraim...was born about 1791. He married Susan Cooper and raised his family in Ashwellthorpe NFK
Thomas...was born about 1793. He married Ann Parker. He is on the ship's list as arriving in  New York 14th May 1838 on the ship "Philadelphia". His wife Ann is buried in Fall River, Massachusetts.
Charles
...was born about 1786. He married Harriet Scott. She may have been his second wife.
Sarah
...was born about 1798. She married Noah Arnold, and they raised their family mainly in Talconestone, NFK.
George
...was born about 1802. He married Sarah from Ashwellthope.
Elizabeth
...was born about 1805. I have no further information at this time.
