Birth 4 August 1845 Solomon M was born on 4 August 1845 at Springwater, Livingston county, New York. Melinda Jax  gives his birth date as 4 Aug 1845. But the information that Solomon gives on the 1900 census is that he was born in 1842.

Wife is Clarrinda N, who is 55 years old, born in New York. Children are:

Elisha G 19, farm laborer, attended school in the last year
Solomon 15, Farm laborer, attended school in the last year
Tell T 13, did NOT attend school in the last year.

Marriage circa 1861 Solomon M Washburn married Sarah (?) circa 1861. On the 1900 census he says that he was first married when 19 years old.6,2

Cen1880 29 June 1880 Solomon M Washburn shows on the 1880 census for Springwater, Livingston county, New York taken 29 June 1880. Solomon is a 35 year old widower. He has four children: Burt 11 (who may appear as Arthur on the 1870 census); Bertha 8; Tovin or Alvin 5 and Eugene 3. His housekeeper is Eunice Horton 29. Eunice has a daughter Eunice who is 2 years old.7

Marriage 30 March 1881 Solomon M Washburn, 38 years old, married Martha Havens, who was 19 years old, daughter of Joseph B Havens III and Ruth Tate, 30 March 1881 in New York. Lorraine Healton says that they had at least 4 girls and 1 boy. On the 1900 census they have 7 children and Martha says that she has had seven children and all are living.8,1,9

Cen1900 20 June 1900 Solomon M Washburn shows on the 1900 U.S. census in Springwater, Livingston county, New York. Solomon is a 57 year old farmer, born in New York in Aug of 1842. Martha is his wife, born May of 1861 in New York. She is 39. She has had 7 children and all 7 are living in the household at this census. They were first married when Martha was 19.

Cen1910 27 April 1910 Solomon M Washburn and Martha Havens show on the U.S. Census for 1910 at Springwater, Livingston county, New York Solomon appears as Solmon. He is a 65 year old fruit farmer. This is his second marriage and Martha's first. She is listed as "Havens" Washburn. She is 45 years old, has had 7 children 6 of whom are living. Children still at home are:
Rachel 24, working out as a housekeeper
LaVerne 19 (must be the child that shows as Harrison on the 1900 census) 19 years old, working as farm labor.
Orpha 17, working out as a housekeeper.10

1917 In the 1917 Agricultural Index for Livingston county, Solomon and Martha are listed as "berry growers", living on Rte #4 in Springwater, with a Naples Post Office. They have 8 acres under cultivation.11

Cen1920 26 Jan 1920 Solomon M Washburn and Martha Havens show on the 1920 U.S. census on Feather street,in  Springwater, Livingston county, New York.  Census was done on 26 January 1920. Solomon and Martha are living alone but very close to son LaVern. Solomon is 73 years old and Martha is 55. Actually, if the birth date that Solomon gave in 1900 is correct and he is the Solomon that shows on the 1850 census as 7 years old then he is likely 78 years old!!!!!!12

Cen 1930 1930 Solomon M Washburn shows on the 1930 census, in 360 West Street, Bath Village, Steuben county, New York, in the household of Charles R Towner and Rachel B Washburn.  Charles is a pumper in the water works. He is 47 years old, first married when 28 years old. They rent a house @ $15 per month. Rachel B is 45. Charles L, who appeared as Leo C. on the 1920 census is 16 and Rachael R, who appeared as Ruth R on the 1920 census is 13. Solomon Washburn, the father of Rachel, the wife, is 85 years old. If his birthday is correct on the 1900 census then he should be about 87 years old.13
Death 18 May 1931 Solomon M died on 18 May 1931 at Naples,  Ontario county,  New York at age 88. The date, other than the year, is supplied by Melissa Jax with no documentation.14

Burial Solomon was buried at Roseridge cemetery in  Naples, New York. Section A lot 007.14,11
