Today I heard from my Michigan researcher with the death certificate for the Charles Danforth of Columbia twp, Van Buren Co. He died at the state asylum at Kalamazoo 17 April 1911, buried the following day. His death certificate gives year of birth 1863, father's name Sylvanus M. Danforth from Massachusetts, mother Em. F. Newcomb, from Massachusetts. Length of stay at asylum was 1 year, 0 months, 18 days. Cause of death was General Paresis (paralysis). She didn't find any obituary for him, but did find mention of him in the "Hartford Day Spring", April 26, 1911, page 6, under column "Probate Court" - "Matter of Charles L. Danforth, insane; notice of death of patient filed." (Ruth Crane, February 2001).6

If Charles is the Charles Danforth that is living in Muskegon in 1887 then the following may be true.
1887 A Charles E Danforth is in Muskegon, Michigan living at 113 Lake Street and working for the Michigan Shingle co. as a Filer in 1887-1888. In 1889-1890 he is living at 101 Lake Street and now occupation is given as a "saw filer" for the Michigan Shingle co. There is no indication that he was married at this time. But.7
Note 1887 Ruth Crane indicates that Charles Danforth is living in Muskegon WITH his father. That is not quite true. They may both be in Muskegon in 1887 but they are not in the same household. Charles is at 113 Lake Street and there is a William Danforth at 146 Peck Street.8,9

Marriage circa 1889 Charles L Danforth may have married ___mia E (?) circa 1889.  A Charles Danforth married before 1890 in Muskegon as there are two children born to Charles Danforth and a _____mia E Danforth in Muskgeon in 1890 and 1891. Info from Birth registration of children born in 1890 and 1891 in Muskegon co Michigan. Can not read her name. These two daughters appears to have been born EXACTLY one year apart....3 April 1890 and 1891.10

(Witness) Birth 3 April 1890 It appears that his Charles Danforth had a daughter, (?) was born 3 April 1890 in at Muskegon at Muskegon county, Michigan. In this birth registration Charles' occupation is listed as "filer" which is consistent with the Muskegon City Directory of 1887 and 1889.10

(Witness) Birth 3 April 1891 Another Daughter, Irevine was born 3 April 1891 in at Muskegon at Muskegon county, Michigan. It appears that these two daughters were born EXACTLY one year apart.

Need HELP 21 January 1892 Ruth Crane found a Charles Danforth, dying in Muskegon 21 Jan 1892, 33 years old, white, single, Born in Ohio. Libre 2, page 105. This is possible but if our Charles was born after the 1860 census and he must have been as he is NOT on that census then he was born after July of 1860 and in Jan of 1892 would not yet be 33 years old. To be 33 in Jan 1892, he had to have been born before 21 Jan 1859. Possibly this is NOT our Charles Danforth.

It appears this CHARLES DANFORD, was single, 33 years old, born in Ohio, died of spinal meningitis. No other info. Recorded in Muskegon Death Records, Vol 3, p105 #81, job given as laborer.8,11,12
