| Father | James Jackson1 b. circa 1820, d. 28 June 1904 | |
| Mother | Mary Ann Oliphant1 b. 27 March 1827 |
| Birth | 15 Nov 1857 | John Hicklin was born on
15 November 1857 at Edison, Gilead township, Crawford county, Ohio.
Edison is NOT in Crawford county, but is in Morrow county. It seems
most likely that John was born in Crawford county and then LIVED in
Morrow county later. There is an interesting tidbit about naming that was suggested for this childs name. In many Scottish and Irish families when a woman's first husband died and she remarried, the first male child of the new union was named for the first husband and if it was a second marriage for the husband, then the first female child would be named for the dead first wife.,2 |
| Cen1880 | 7 June 1880 | John Hicklin Jackson shows in the household of James Jackson
on the 1880 census of Mt. Gilead, Marrow county, Ohio taken 7 June
1880, James is a 60 year old farmer, born in Ohio, parents born in
Virginia. Mary A. is his wife. She is 53 years old, born in Ohio,
father born in Virginia and mother born in Ohio. Son John A. (this
should be read as an "H") is 23, a medical student; son James A is 15
and a farmer and attended school during the last year. They have a
hired girl, Maria Feight, who is 15 years old and attended school
during the last year. Abner Oliphant, a brother of Mary Ann is 60 years
old, single and listed as a "not bright" farmer. Ruth Jackson, possibly
a sister of James is 69, single and lame by a fall. James A is James Alvin. He grew up and ran a drug store in Columbus Ohio. He died in Columbus, Franklin county Ohio on 16 Oct 1941.3,4 |
