| Father | Joseph Havens b. 1753, d. 1 April 1833 | |
| Mother | Martha Bennett b. 7 April 1755, d. 9 October 1845 |
| On the death certificate for son Stephen A Havens,
it is claimed that both of his parents were from Vermont. There are
other errors on this death register therefore this can not be taken as
gospel.1 |

| Birth | 7 March 1780 | Stephen Simon was born on 7 March 1780 in Argyle township??, Washington county, New York.2,3,4,5 |
| Cen1790 | 1790 | Stephen Simon Havens may appear in the household of Joseph Havens and Martha Bennett
on the in 1790census for at Argyle, New York. The part of Argyle
township in which they were then living is now Fort Edward township.
They were living adjacently to William Bennett and Charles Bennett and
three houses beyond, Henry Bennett. It is strongly suspected that
William, Charles and Henry Bennett were brothers and that Martha was
their sister. Joseph show with 2 males over 16, one of which has to be
Joseph. There are 3 males under 16 and 3 females. One of the males over 16 is Joseph, the other is not known. Could be a brother, or could be Joseph's father. The males under 16 are likely Stephen born ca1780 and therefore about 10; Elijah born ca 1873 and about 7; Joseph Jr, bca1875 and about 5. The females are Martha and the two daughter are likely Rachel bca 1784-1790 and an unknown daughter.6,7,8,9 |
| Marriage | before 1800 | Stephen Simon Havens married Nancy Rowley, daughter of Sylvester Rowley,
before 1800 in prob. Argyle, New York. I suspect that Stephen Simon and
Nancy Rowley were married BEFORE the 1800 census. On the 1800 census
there is only on Stephen in the State of New York, a bit old for our
Stephen but he is married with one male child.2,4,5,10 |
| Cen1800 | 1800 | Stephen Simon Havens may appear on the 1800 census
in at Stillwater, Saratoga county, New York, , There is only one
Stephen Havens on the 1800 New York census. He is 26-45 which is too
old for our Stephen but we know that there are errors in the census.
Wife is same and they have one male. There does not seem to be enough
males in the household of father Joseph for Stephen to still be living
there.10 |
| research | 1810 | Find at New York 1810 land. |
| Cen1810 | 1810 | Stephen Simon Havens appears on the 1810 census in Sodus, Ontario county now Wayne, New York On this 1810 census Stephen is 26 - 45 years old. Therefore
born between 1765 and 1784. If his birth date of 1780 is correct that
is within that time frame. wife is the same age. They have one male
child under 10 and 2 females under 10 one of whom could be Electa.2,11 |
| Cen1820 | 1820 | Stephen Simon Havens may appear on the 1820
census in Farmington, Ontario county, New York. On page 315 of the
census. Farmington is SE of Rochester, south of I-90 on Route 8 West of
route 28. Today, it is a very small community that does not even have
streets listed on map quest. On the 1820 census Stephen Simon Havens is 26 to 45. If he was born in 1780 he would be about 40 so this is consistent with previous information. Wife is the same age. There are 2 males under 10 that is born between 1810 and 1820, likely George W if he really belongs in this family and Thomas Robert Rowley Havens who was born in 1812 and would be 8 years old. One male 10 years old but under 16 could be George W or the un-named son. This un-named son COULD be Stephen A. Havens (son of this Stephen). If William Alexander was born in 1820 it is possible that he was born AFTER this census. There are 2 females under 10 whose names we do not know. 1 female 10 to 16, another unknown. The female 16 to 26 is likely Electa who if she was born in 1805 would be close to 16.12 |
| Death | between 1822 and 1826 | Stephen Simon died between 1822 and 1826 at
Farmington, Ontario, New York. HH claims that he does not
show on the 1830 census.2 |
| Burial | Stephen Simon Havens in Farmington at Argyle??
Ontario county, at New York. There is no stone per an article in Havens
Harbor. Argyle is a town and a county in the very Eastern part of NY
state near the VT border. IT IS NOT in Ontario county, it is in
Washington county. There does not now seem to be a town of Argyle in Ontario county.2 |
