Mil Info* 1778 He was a Revolutionary War soldier having served in the 2nd Regiment of the Albany Co., NY militia and in 1778 enlisted as a private in the 8th Company, 2nd NY Regiment, NY Line (the regular U.S. service under General George Washington). The 2nd NY Regiment was commanded by Colonel Philip Cortlandt. He mustered out in 1783 at the end of the War.3 
Marriage* circa 1779 Russel Brockway married Polly (Mary) Waterman circa 1779. Marriage date is only a guess.2 
WillProved* 6 March 1830 His will was proved at Volney, Oswego county, New York, on 6 March 1830. Brief of will is as follows: Brockway, Russell, Town of Volney, Oswego Co. NY. To my wife Mary, $300 which my son Russell Brockway, Jr. is to pay in lieu of dower. To other children. Estate to go to Russell in fee simple. To my daughter, Charlotte, wife of Joel Wright, $30. To my daughter, Susannah, wife of George Cardy (?), $50. To my daughter, Mary, the widow of Sanuel Green, $50. To my daughter, Betsey, the wife of Wm Miles, $30. To my daughter, Sarah Brockway, $60. Executor, son, Russell Brockway, Jr. Written 16 Jan 1830. Witnesses: Theodore Romeyn, James Burgess. Presented 6 Mar 1830. Pg 44 Will recorded in 38-A-44A
