After the 1850 census was completed, it was copied, and the original copy was kept by the counties and the copy was sent to Washington DC. Some of the copies sent to Washington were pretty bad. That copy is what the microfilms were made from. Some of counties still have those original census' and they are available for viewing, no, I don't know which ones. Which means that there could have been two James Eastman's or the copyist made an error!
