IF this marriage really occurred it was one of political motives. Eustace was only 6 years old in 1036, Godgifu would be between 19 and 27 years old and she had three children by Walter Dreux before this marriage. There are no children attributed to this union. Some sources think that this marriage occurred about 1049, in which case Eustace would be about 19 and Godgifu would be between 32 and 40 which sound more probably.4,5
