Birth 20 September 1816 Katharina Elisabeth was born on 20 September 1816 at Helmsheim, Baden, Ger.1

 Could birth date be later as well as Marriage date? Does not seem to be consistent with birth of children.

In a letter from Florence Mayer to Dorothea Howard about 1962 she states: "'My grandmother had one sister who died rather young. Her brothers were John, Jacob, and George or Henry.   Same letter states that this family came to Morrison area from Germany after the brothers of Catherine. Their three children were born in Germany." George Henry came to the US in 1857 so this family likely came after that.3

Kate and George Winter had a vineyard in a small village near Karlshrue, Baden Germany. They left the old country because the government took the best half of their crop of grapes each year as taxes.3

Son Henry states on the 1880 census, where he is living with uncle, Jacob Feldman, that he was born in Germany about 1858. Therefore this family came to this county between 1858 and 1880.4   In 1900 they says that they came to this country in 1867.
1870 Find at Morrison, Illinois, 1870  census  . In 1900 they say they entered the US in 1867.

Cen1880 11 June 1880 Katharina Elisabeth Feldman shows on the 1880 census for Mt. Pleasant township, Whiteside county, Illinois taken 11 June 1880. The index has George as 64 years old, a farmer, born in Germany and wife is Kate who is 60 and born in Germany. But in looking at the census I feel that this reads as George being 68 and Kate as 64. The handwriting is poor and blurred.5

 
1883 Sometime after the death of her father in 1883 Augusta Feldman lived with her father's sister and her husband, Catherine and Georg(e) Winters.8

Cen1900 11 June 1900 Katharina Elisabeth Feldman and Georg Winter show on the 1900 U.S. census in Mt Pleasant township, Whiteside county, Illinois. George is 80 years old, born in Germany and is an alien. He entered the United States in 1867 and is a stone mason. He was born in April of 1820 in Germany. Wife is Kate. She has been in the US for 32 years, since 1867. Kate was born in Aug 1816 in Germany. She is 83 years old. They have been married for 53 years and have had 4 children 3 of whom are living. They own their house. Son Henry G is 42 years old, single born in Sept 1857 in Germany. He has been in the US since 1867 and is a naturalized citizen. He is a carpenter by trade.6

Death 1907 Katharina Elisabeth died in 1907 at Morrison, Whiteside county, Illinois. She is buried in Sec A. Lot 3 of Grove Hill cemetery in Morrision, Illinois.7  We were not able to find a grave marker for either Katharina or her husband  George.
