Land* 16 August 1911 Arthur Eugene was living at Richmond, Virginia when he bought land on or near Long Island described in the deed as "Livingston Manor" town of Smirthtown, Suffolk county, New York, Lot 93 for $1 and other considerations. It is possible that he lost this land to taxes during the depression.3 
Marriage* 19 January 1916 Arthur Eugene Havens, 23 years old, married Lillian May Hicks, who was 19 years old, 19 January 1916 in Baltimore, Maryland. Arthur and brother Wilbur were married on the same day in the same place. they had a double wedding. Lillian Hicks and Thelma Chewning had lived next door to each other and were good friends.2 
research* 1928 Find 1928 These are from Arthur William and his son Arthur Eugene, my grandfather. From what I know, the land was purchased as an investment. I don't know why they picked Long Island, but it is curious. From what we can tell the lots are townhouse lots. The $1.00 purchase fee I asked about. I had an Genealogy researcher look at them and he said the $1.00 fee was used back then, so other people would not know what was really paid. That is about all I know, but I suspect the land was lost during the depression. I know that their house in Richmond was lost at that time due to taxes that could not be paid. Robin
