born in Connecticut. (Interesting, the occupation of all the
householders on this page of the census was either carpenter or cabinet
maker. There was one teamster.)|

Buren county Michigan. This information from the obituary of son
Russell, but no date is given.4
|Civil War Service||Homer enlisted in Company I, U.S. Volunteers 1st Sharp Shooter Regiment
on 30 Aug 1862 from Paw Paw Michigan. Mustered out on 26 Jul 1864 at
Petersburg, VA. He was 39 years old.|

||Homer W Mentor shows on the 1880 census for Petoskey, Emmet county, Michigan as a 57 year old carpenter, born in CT, both parents were born in CT. His children all have building trade related jobs on this census.5
Wife Anna and son Franklin are living with him in
Petoskey. He is also listed as living in Paw Paw, Van Buren
county, Michigan on the 1880 census. Homer is now 57 years old,
still a carpenter. Wife is Anna E. who is 52 years old. Two
sons still at home. Charles, 28, who is a painter and Arthur J.
21 who is a blacksmith.

Paw Paw. Homer was born in Connecticut as were his parents. He is 77 years old, born in Dec 1822.
Wife is Anna E who is 72 years old, born in New York in June of
1828. Her father was born in New York and mother born in
Vermont. They have been married for 56 years. Anna has had
6 children 4 of whom are living. No occupation is given for Homer.6
