Birth circa 1839  Zachariah B was born circa 1839 at Ohio. On his enlistment papers he says that he was 24 in 1861, but on the 1870 census he is 31. On the 1870 census he claims to have been born in Ohio.2,3

Mil Info 13 October 1861  Zachariah B Langley served during the Civil War in 12th Michigan Infantry Co A. His address is given as Pokagon, which is in Cass county and his age as 24. He enlisted on 13 October 1861 and was assigned to 12th Michigan Infantry Co A on 19 Dec 1861. He became a POW on 6 April 1862, and was released to his unit on 6 April 1863.3

Milit-End 7 January 1865  Zachariah B Langley ended his military service on on 7 January 1865 at DeVall's Bluff, Arkansas.4

Marriage before 1867  Zachariah B Langley married Catharine F or L Hanold, daughter of Arter McIlvaine Hannold and Elizabeth A Summerell, before 1867. They had 4 children:

Cen1870 26 July 1870  Zachariah B Langley and Catharine F or L Hanold appear on the 1870 census in Keeler village, Van Buren county, Michigan. Z.B. Langley is 31 born in Ohio, Catherine is 21 and they have one child, Sylvia born in March of 1870.1

Note 1871  He operated the saw mill in Van Buren county for his father-in-law, Arter Hannold. He may have run the mill after the death of Arter, also.5

Cen1880 18 June 1880  Zachariah B Langley and Catharine F or L Hanold show on the 1880 census for Bainbridge, Berrien county, Michigan taken 18 June 1880. Zachariah is 40 years old, a farmer born in Ohio. Catherine is his wife. She is 32 and born in Ohio. Children are Slyvia 10, Norman 9, Wilber 5, Lydia 3 and Estella 1. All children born in Michigan.6

June 1894  In June of 1894 census enumerators recorded the names of U.S. soldiers of the Civil War living in Michigan. At that time Zachariah B Langley was living in Bainbridge, Berrien county, Michigan.7

Death 22 Sept 1895  Zachariah B died on 22 September 1895 at Bainbridge township,  Berrier county, Michigan. He died of consumption. The very short Obituary in the "True Northern" of PawPaw tells that he was an ex soldier, past middle age and a member of the GAR. He leaves several children. Wife died several years ago.3,8
