He enlisted on 13 October 1861 and was assigned to an unknown place on 19 Dec 1861. He became a POW on 6 April 1862, and was released to his unit on 6 April 1863.3

Note* 1871 He operated the saw mill in Van Buren county for his father-in-law, Arter Hannold. He may have run the mill after the death of Arter, also.5

Zachariah is 40 years old, a farmer born in Ohio. Catherine is his wife. She is 32 and born in Ohio. Children are Slyvia 10, Norman 9, Wilber 5, Lydia 3 and Estella 1. All children born in Michigan.6
