Birth 2 Feb 1829 Barbara Jane was born on 2 February 1829 at Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Michael Showers and Nancy Potter. She is on the 1850 census as the wife of James Hannold and appears as 22 years old, therefore bca 1827/8. Brian Hannold says that she was born ca 1829 and that could be correct.1,3,4

Note: that this list has both Martha and Mary marrying a Joseph Clinger. Martha and Mary may be one person, OR Mary may have married Joseph after the death of Martha. Or maybe the whole relationship is incorrect.5,6

James is 30 years old,can not read his employment, born in Pennsylvania Wife is Barbara 22, born in Pennsylvania. All children were born in Pennsylvania. Mary 3, Michael 2 and Margaret 5/12. Brother of James, Thomas, is 23, born in Pennsylvania and is a laborer. They are living next door to the Michael Showers family. Hannah Showers is part of that family and is 16 years old. She married Thomas about 1851.3

Both James and his wife Barbara can read and write. Barbara is 40 years old. Children at home are:

Cen1880 17 June 1880 Barbara Jane Showers shows on the 1880 census for Clarion twp, Clarion county, Pennsylvania taken 17 June 1880. James is given as James HANHOLD on this census. He is a 60 year old farmer born in Pennsylvania. Wife is Barbara J, who is 50. There are still children in the household. Charlotte is 21, James E is 20 and Thompson is 14. The mother of Barbara J...Nancy Showers is here also. She is 71 years old.9

Death 1 May 1894 Barbara Jane died on 1 May 1894 at Pennsylvania at age 65.4,2 
Burial 18 May 1899 Barbara was buried at Asbury Methodist cemetery, Pennyslvania. Note the difference in date!!!! there is likely a transcription error here somewhere.10
