Birth 1814 Mary Catherine was born in 1814 at Millville, Armstrong county, Pennsylvania. Her parents were likely William Huffman and Christina Mohney. (Gary L Franks engineer9@aol.com on Ancestry.com).2,3  Her father's land became village of Millville,now Hawthorn, Redbank Twp. Clarion Co. PA. Her folks are buried in  Trinity U. C. C., Cemetery, Alcola, PA.

She moved to Redbank Twp., Armstrong Co. PA. with her parents about 1825. They sold land there on 14 Sept. 1826. They then moved to Ohio before the 1850 census.

 Mary had a brother Abraham Hoffman/Huffman b. 27 Jan. 1821, d. 1 Dec. 1898, who married a. Jane SUMMERELL.  Arter Hannold married a woman named Elizabeth Summerell.  Arter was the brother of Joseph R. Hannold, the husband of Mary Catherine.  How are these two women  related if they are??
Marriage 9 December 1830 Mary Catherine Huffman married Joseph R Hannold, who was 26 years old,  son of John P Hannold and Rachel McIlvanine, 9 December 1830 in Portage county, Ohio. This marriage may have occurred on 20 Dec 1830 or that date may have been the recording date.4,2

1830 They may have been married in Pennsylvannia per History of Western Reserve. (don't think so, there is a record in Stark county) Came to Stark county soon after marriage. They were in Stark county only a short time and then they located in Edinburg Township, Portage county. They were there for about 8 years when then sold there land there and moved to Rootstown township. He bought the shares of the remaining heirs in his father-in-laws estate and lived here until his death in 1880. His wife had died in 1865. These dates are not quite correct. Joseph shows on the 1830 census with his parents in Lexington township Stark county, Ohio. He could have been married in Pennsylvannia but does not seem likely as his parents and HER parents were both living in Ohio. Also Joseph did not die in 1880 but rather in 1875 and it appears that Mary Catherine died in 1863.5,6

LandSold 26 May 1837 On 26 May 1837 Joseph R Hannold and Mary Catherine Huffman sold land in Stark county, Ohio.7

Cen1840 1840 Mary Catherine Huffman may appear on the 1840 U.S. census for Edinburg township, Portage county, Ohio On this census Joseph is 20-30 years old, wife is 20-30 years old and they have one son 5 to 10 years old. If Joseph was born in 1804 he should be 30-40 on this census. Brothers Arter, and John lived nearby as did the family of James Clover.8

Cen1850 17 August 1850 Mary Catherine Huffman and Joseph R Hannold appear on the 1850 census in Rootstown, Portage county, Ohio. Joseph is 46 years old, a farmer, born in PA. He owns $1800 of real estate. In his household are his wife, Catherine, 36, born in PA and son William, who is 4 and whose birth place is not readable. Catherine's parents are also in this household.9

CEN1860 1 June 1860 Mary Catherine Huffman appears on the 1860 census of Rootstown township, Portage county, Ohio taken on 1 June 1860 Joseph is 57 years old, born in New Jersey. He is a farmer with $4400 of real estate and $570 of personal property. Wife is Catherine, who is 48 and born in Pennsylvannia. Son William H is 15, in school and born in Ohio.10

Death 22 October 1863 Mary Catherine died on 22 October 1863 at Rootstown township, at Portage county, at Ohio.2,11 
Burial Mary was buried in Rootstown, Ohio.2  Likely in Homeland cemetery.  This cemetery located in Rootstown Township on north side of Tallmadge Road (CR 18); .4 mile east of intersection of SR 44 and Tallmadge Road.
