Birth 31 August 1782 John P was born on 31 August 1782 at Gloucester, New Jersey. Date of birth calculated from gravestone information.1,2

Birth 1798 John P may have been born in 1798. In information on microfiche #1394063 submitted by Margaret Taylor of Grants Pass, Oregon to SLC, a birth date of 1798 appears. Have not read this microfiche. Does not seem likely, considering other information.

Note early 1800's In early 1800's John was in Pennsylvania according to Crane.1

1820 Among the early settlers along the Conemaugh river, Blacklick creek, and its tributaries, and in the 'southern part of Indiana county,PA were Charles Campbell, Samuel Dixon, John McCrea, John Harrold, Phillip Altman, Patrick McGee, Archey Coleman, George Repine, Malachia Sutton, William Loughry, Jonathan Doty, Jacob Bricker, James Ewing, James Ferguson, Peter Fair, James 'McComb, Samuel McCartney, John Neal, Alexander Rhea, William Robertson, Daniel Repine, John Shields, Robert Liggett, David Reed, William Graham, Ephraim Wale lace, George Mabon, the Hices, Hugh St. Clair, James McDonald, and WilliamClark. On the 1820 census the name appears as Hannold.9

Cen1820 1820 John P Hannold may appear on the 1820 census in Blacklick township, Indiana county, Pennsylvania. This township abuts Armstrong township and Indiana county abuts Armstrong township. Therefore, if at some time someone said that they lived in the "Armstrong area" of Pennsylvannia that remark would be accurate. But it appears that they were in Blacklick township, Indiana county, Pennsylvania on the 1820 census. John is over 45 which is consistent with a 1782 birthdate. Wife is over 45. Oldest male child is 16 to 26, likely Joseph who would be about 16 on this census. The male 10 to 16 could be Bowman who, if born in 1809, would be 11 years old. There are only 2 males under ten and there are 3 possibilities. Isaac 9; John P 7; and Arter about 4. But there are two females under 10 and 1 female 10-16. The 10-16 is likely Elizabeth who was born 1806 and would be 14 in 1820. If we assume that the census taker made a recording error and recorded a male as a female, we still have one child more on the census than we have names for.

In light of this information the extra female on the 1830 census COULD be one of these two females under 10 on this census and the other could be Arter or John P.10

1821 In the time period of about 1821 John P Hannold and his family are said to have been in Armstrong county, Pennsylvania. Son, William says that he was born there. In 1821 son Joseph would have been about 17, Bowman would have been about 11 years old, Isaac 9, John P about 7, Arher about 5.7

Cen1830 1830 John P Hannold appears on the 1830 U.S. Census in Lexington township, Stark county, Ohio, John P and wife and 7 children, whose ages are what would be expected from other information. John is 40-50 years old, which is consistent with a birth date of 1782. Wife is 40-50 years old, which is consistent with what we know of Rachel and impossible for Elizabeth, John's second wife.11

Tax List 1833 John P Hannold appears on the tax list or duplicate for Lexington township, Stark county, Ohio, for the year of 1833. The value is given as $316 with tax due of $2.66.9.12

1834  An entry in range book M, p 325 says that he paid $1.00 for "A" type deed. What is this?

Tax List 1835 John P Hannold appears on the tax list or duplicate for Lexington township, Stark county, Ohio, for the year of 1835. The value of this land is given as $308 with tax due of $1.77.13

Tax List 1836 & 1837 John P Hannold appears on the tax list or duplicate for Lexington township, Stark county, Ohio, for the years of 1836 & 1837.14,15

Marriage #2 18 Sept 1839 John P, 57 years old, married Elizabeth Servey 18 September 1839 in Stark county, Ohio; They were married by Mahlon Allison, JP. It appears that Elizabeth was about 27 years old.16,1,17

Cen1840 1840 John P Hannold may appear on the 1840 U.S. census for Lexington township, Stark county, Ohio. John P. Hannold appears as John Hanold on this census. He is 60 to 70 years old which is close....if he was born in 1782 he would be 58 years old. Wife is 30 to 40 years old.....Elizabeth was bca 1809-1812. The male under 5 is Philip who was born in 1835, the male 15-20 is William W. who was born in 1821. Clarissa is the female under 5 as she was born in 1839.18

research 1840 It appears that land that belonged to John P went to son Joseph P and ultimately to grandson William Henry. Need to Trace this land.

1840 Crane claims that this family moved from Ohio to Kosciusko county, Indiana in the early 1840's.7
