The Will of Daniel Stockton 1725 - 1804
The following information is an excerpt from the Last Will and Testament of Daniel Stockton, which was provided by Vernon B Williams The Last Will and Testament of Daniel Stockton was drawn up in 1800 and executed in June of 1804. To which he left One Third of his moveable estate to his wife Mary, to be freely enjoyed durning her "Widowhood". The sum of Ten pounds was left to his eldest son Joseph, and second son Clayton. Twenty Pounds was left to his third son John and youngest son Doughty was given 100 acres of land, to be taken from the south end of the plantation, called the Old Orchard and Spring. To his three daughters, Mary Sundy, Content Wortman and Elizabeth Sundy, Five dollars each. Grand Daughter Mary Sundy should have a feather bed and one cow. The plantation is to be sold, after all debts are paid, wife Mary is to receive One Third, the remaining Two Thirds to be divided equally amongst the four sons aforementioned, Joseph Stockton, Clayton Stockton, John Stockton, and Doughty Stockton.

New Jersey Colonial Documents, William Nelson, pg 411: Calendar of Wills, 1761-1770; 1768, Apr 11, Stockton, Joseph, of Somerset Co., Farmer. Will of. Wife, Elizabeth, firewood which is to cut by my son, John. Eldest son, Daniel, 5 shillings. Son, John, 130 acres were I live and 20 acres of woodland, and he is to pay to my wife 100 pounds. Wife, Elizaeth, rest of my home tract, or 300 acre tract. If my wife dies without a will, then her estate is to go to my daughters, Amey Stockton, Elizabeth Nicholson, Mary Anderson, and Sarah Stockton. Executors, my wife, and my son, Daniel Stockton.
