Fourth Generation
John Zettelmeyer was born about 1786 to Johann Martin and Margaret Zettelmeyer; he died 14 Mar 1857. About 1808 John married Elizabeth (surname unknown), who was born about 1787. The 1810 census for Windsor Twp, Berks Co PA shows that he was aged 26-45 and his wife was 16-26. In 1820 and 1830, they were in Greenwich Twp. The 1820 census shows that he and his wile were 26-45, and there was one male aged 10-16, and one male and two females under age 10. In 1830 he and his wife were 40-50 and there was one female under age 5 in their home. I have not located him in the 1840 census; in 1850 he was in Penn Twp, Berks Co. He gave his age as 64 and his occupation as farmer. He also listed real estate valued at $1,400. Elizabeth gave her age as 63. A daughter, Theresa, was age 26 and unmarried. In 1860. Elizabeth was back in Greenwich Twp, age 72, a widow, and listed personal property of $100. Theresa, age 28(?), was domestic help for her.
This census information tends to indicate that they had five children, two sons and three daughters. I have found the baptismal record for one son and I found one daughter listed with them in the 1850 census.

Jeremias Zettelmeyer—born 19 Jun 1812 and died 11 Feb 1821. He was baptized 23 Sep 1812 at age 3 months at Smoke Church. Martin Zettelmayer and wife were the sponsors.
female Zettelmeyer—born between 1810 and 1820.
female Zettelmeyer—born between 1810 and 1820.
Theresa Zettelmeyer—born 1824. She was baptized 9 May 1824 in Smoke Church to Johannes Zettelmayer and wife; Samuel and Anna Maria Keller were the sponsors.
John Zettelmeyer was born about 1810 to John and Elizabeth Zettelmeyer. He married Catherine (surname unknown), who was born about 1811. I believe he was the first son of John and Elizabeth. The 1850 Albany Twp, Berks Co PA census gave his and his wife’s ages as 40. Daughter(?) Catharine, 18, had married a Hendricks during the year. Other children were Mary, 15; Elizabeth, 12; Elvina, 10; Hannah, 8; Martin, 7; Lydia, 6; Lucinda, 5; and Cordelia, 4. In the 1860 census for Albany Twp, Berks Co PA, he gave his age as 50 and his wife was 49. John was a farmer, with $3,000 of real property and $800 of personal property. Attempting to reconcile the names in the 1850 and 1860 censuses, they may have had nine children:
Catharine Zettlemoyer—born about 1832. She married (given name unknown) Hendricks.
Mary Priscilla Zettlemoyer—born about 1835.
Elizabeth Susanna Zettlemoyer—born about 1838.
Elvina Zettlemoyer—born about 1840.
Hannah Zettlemoyer—born about 1842.
John Martin Zettlemoyer—born about 1843. He may have been the John Zettlemoyer who was listed in the 1870 Albany Twp census as age 22 as a day laborer, with $200 personal property, a wife, Elizabeth, age 21, and children Franklin, 3, and Elvira, 1. Ages given from one census to another vary so much that he could be that person.
Lydia Zettlemoyer—born about 1844.
Lucinda Zettlemoyer—born about 1845.
Cordelia Zettlemoyer—born about 1846.
