HARRISONS IN KENTUCKY

 

JAMES O. Harrison was born 11 April 1804 at Mt. Sterling, KY. His parents were MICAJAH and POLLY, both Virginians. His father came to KY in 1786 and first located in Fayette, removing to Montgomery County where he was County Clerk for 30 years. His mother was the daughter of Rev. William Payne, a clergyman of the Baptist Church. He became a lawyer and was engaged in this profession at Vicksburg, MS from 1840 to 1860. James married Miss Margaret P. Ross of Fayette Co., KY on 20 July 1830.

ROBERT CARTER HARRISON of Fayette married Ann Cabell. His father was Carter Henry Harrison; he was a younger brother of the signer of The Declaration of Independence. Robert moved to KY in 1806. He was born in 1765.

Marcia Swann Thompson married Dr. Richard Harrison, son of Maj. Richard Harrison of the Revolutionary War who came from James River, VA to SC. Maj. Richard's brother, James Harrison, married Elizabeth Hampton, sister of Gen. Wade and Col. Henry Hampton of the Revolution.

Received of the Registrar of the land office. Military warrant 8562 for 1339 acres and warrant 8563 for 669 acres on 21 May 1838. Recorded Book 2, page 447, Virginia Land Office.

HH 4.4- 150 Looking for Harrisons from Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama. My Harrisons were in these states before going to Louisiana in 1850's. My great grandmother as a girl of 12 was in or around Wetumpka, AL in 1847. Her sister, who was about 4 years older was born in TN (according to census).

Angeline (Angelina or Ann) Harrison married her cousin Benjamin D. Harrison (b. AL 1824). Moved from Talladega Co., AL in 1850-51 to Homer Claiborne Parish, LA. Catherine (Kate) Harrison married in 1859, Jeptha Stanland. They had 2 daughters (Jessie m. R.J. Allgood and Lulu m. (1) W. S. Alford (2) Waymon Wasson.)

Benjamin F. Harrison, brother of Angeline and Catherine born ca 1839 in AL or LA. He lived in New Orleans in 1910. He married Dora Morgan, native of MS.

HH 4.4- 155 In seeking information on benjamin Harrison (and his wives) of Pulaski and Decatur Counties in georgia. Accoring to the family Bible, he was born Jan 7, 1777 and died Sept 4, 1832. His first wife was Martha Bush. They had six children and the died May 15, 1808. He then married Elizabeth Dykes and they had six children, Also. She died May 20, 1827. I believe Benjamin came from North Carolina, but I am unable to locate hm, there.
