Went to war with Capt. Beatty. In battle of Kings Mtn with Gideon & Nathaniel Harrison.

Lived in Wash Co. Tn 3yrs next to Abindon, Va

2nd wife Jane claimed pension in 1852.

Army affidavit states church minister in Athens was John A. Dewoody. Cumberland Pres records of early Twickenham or Huntsville.

John Craig moved from Greene Co to Blount Co TN in 1795. He bought land on Pistol Creek joining James Craig, deed book 1. He established an indian fort about 10 miles from his brother David Craig's fort known as Fort Craig. In 1805 he sold some land to the Commissioners of Blount Co to found the city of Maryville County seat of Blount Co, Tn. He moved to the Miss Terr now Alabama about 1808.

He signed petition in Alabama to President & Congress by intruders on Chickasaw Lands Sep 5, 1810. History of Limestone Co, AL by Robt Walker. There are no known marriage records of John Craig or his brother James, Jr.

Probably md in Greene Co. NC now Tenn.

Deed Book D, page 67, Madison Co., AL, John Craig and wife Martha of Limestone Co AL sold land to Nancy Scott, Sep 1817. Wit: Adam H. Craig.

Rev War Sol-pension in Limestone Co 13 Sep 1832, b May 24, 1764 York Co Pa. Enl May 1780 while a res. of Wash Co, Va served under Capt Beatty at the Battle of Kings Mtn. Other tours at the Battle of Whitsell's Mill where he was wounded. He lived in Wash Co VA for about 3 yrs after the peace then moved to Greene Co, NC now Tn. Lived in TN until about 1808 when he moved to Alabama.

He died in Limestone Co 1852 , but the will book containing John Craig's will is missing from the Limestone County court house. His children listed on strong circumstanial evidence.
