Mother: Catherine HARRISON |
!Note:Thomas and his family moved in 1849 from Shelby Co, AL, to Saline Co, Ar., where he became a Justice of the Peace. He served for twelve (12) years as County Treasurer. Thomas, his wife, and some of their children moved in 1865 to the area of Dial, Texas and there on Jan 16, 1878, Mary Catherine died. Thomas then married Phebe Farrar at Bonham, Texas, on May 5, 1878 and on April 11, 1886, he married R.S. Pollard at Paris, TX. Thomas is buried near his first wife Mary Catherine in Bledsoe Cemetery at Dial, Texas.
!Note:
Soon after the close of the War Between the States, he and some or all of his children moved to Texas where he settled at the little town of Dial, nor far from Dallas. When he died in 1894 at the age of 80, he had been blind for four years and crippled for two years prior to his death." !Note: from a conversation with Elton Crowson October 12, 1995: Traditional story said that Thomas Harrison Crowson claimed he had been cheated out of the name of Richard. As the first son he should have had that name. Stating: the oldest son of William was William;the oldest son of William was William, so the oldest son of Richard should have been Richard. He knew this to be true.
Thomas Harrison Crowson lived in Shelby county until 1847, when he moved to Saline county, Arkansas. He lived in Arkansas until the beginning of the Civil War, when he moved to Fannin county, Texas. While a resident of Saline county, he filled the office of justice for many years, and was county treasurer for twelve years. Since locating in Texas, his time was spent in the pursuit of agriculture.
