Dr Tully S. Gibson was a physician, in Port Gibson, MS, then moved to Greenwood in LeFlore Co., MS. after serving in the CSA. In the summer of 1873 Dr. Gibson refused to surrender himself to a Carpetbagger Sheriff and posse after being involved in conservative activities. The posse surrounded his home and forced the door partially open. At that point the Sheriff, Ganey, fired through a window behind Dr. Gibson and killed him.
