NOT PROVEN father -Likely father of Malachi and Caroline.
I find a HENRY HARRISON in 1820 and 1830 Humphreys County TN records.
Earlier, there are many land documents in Sumner County with the names James, Nathaniel and Henry. In early Tennessee marriages, I find HENRY HARRISON married POLLY HOWELL in 1791. I think they could have been the parents of MALACHI and CAROLINE and probably several other children. However, I have reason to think this might not have been a long lasting marriage. A court document from 1804, State of TN vs. Henry (Harry) Harrison, accuses him of departing from his wife and living with another woman. Interesting - but I have no names of the women and no knowledge of the outcome of the charges. The document is signed by Roger Gibson as bond or ???
Billie Harrison Hunt writes: My grandfather told me our Harrisons were early settlers (VA).
My search has led me to believe my Harrisons were early settlers of the territory south of the Ohio. I have a copy of the will of JAMES HARRISON who I believe married CYNTHIA GIBSON. It was proved in Sumner County in 1830 and lists as his heirs (Cynthia must have died): sons: James, George (his will proved 1840), Nathaniel, and Harry (Henry), grandson Nathaniel Breedlove (?) Harrison. Other children: Polly Herndon (Polly Harrison married Cornelius Herndon who also appears on many land documents), Massey Williams (John Williams), Susan McKisick, Rhody Wynne, Cynthia Carr (first marriage to Wynne), Caty Howell.
It appears to me it COULD be that Malachi's father was Henry and James was his grandfather. I have no birth, death or marriage documents, no historical or regional histories or biographies supporting this guess. I have not a clue as to where the above JAMES HARRISON was born and who his parents were.
The 1850 census for Washington County AR lists HENRY HARRISON, b. TN, in th James Bell household. No age given. [S1402] [S1402] [S1402] [S1402]
