Mother: Mehetable "Hetty" (Mehitable) CRANE |
CC Baldwin says that her children were Abbie G and Henry Kittridge- this doesn't make sense with the Gould manuscript. Why would Charlotte and her husband name both children after her sister and brother-in-law? Must see other records for the children of Gen. William and Mehitable- was Abbie their daughter or not? Who were
Charlotte's children?
This conflicts with the Gould Mss. and with the number of children and her death date. There is something wrong with some of the data on Charlotte- see other notes.

Mother: Elizabeth HAMPTON |
A post office was established at Cripple Creek in John Hampton Harrison's later years, and he was named postmaster. He died in 1837, and his widow remained alone with a servant at Cripple Creek until her death in 1855, at age 81. Both are buried in the Harrison Family Cemetery. The house built by James Harrison passed to their descendants.
He was founder of both the Greenville and Fairview academies. Her wrote a letter in 1835 to his son James Perry, while he was a student at Yale, which expresses that he was a deeply religious man. The letter is in the possession today of Arthur W. harrison of Richmond, VA. Other documents relating to his business transactions are among the Harrison Family Papers at the University of South Carolina. [S14] [S14]
