Elizabeth Burks b 1705 m Dr. William Cabell. Elizabeth was a member of The Society of Friends, an organization with which the Indians were on friendly terms. Because of this, she was a great help to the Colonists in maintaining peaceful relations with the Indians of VA. Among the descendants of WM Cabell and Elizabeth Burks was James Branch Cabell, well known essayest and novelist. He was born in Richmond, VA in 1879 and died in 1957.
In January 1749-50, Reverend Robert Rose crossed the Tye with Elizabeth Burk Cabell. He records, "I went with Mrs. Cabel over Tye and visited John Key sick of Diarhea." (Virginia Genealogist, v. 29, 119)
Elizabeth lived only shortly, dying on September 21, 1756 of "comas and bilious fever." (Brown, Cabells and Kin, 63)
