Kokomo Tribune - Tuesday, October 24, 1950
Tribute to Dr. William Harrison Paid by Howard Medical Society
A memorial resolution on the death of Dr. William H. Harrison, which occurred Monday, was adopted by the Howard County Medical Society and a copy of it was sent to The Tribune Tuesday. It reads as follows:
"In the death of Dr. William Henry Harrison, the Howard County Medical Society loses its oldest and one of its most respected members. For about 60 years Dr. Harrison was engaged in the general practice of medicine in this community. He was one of the 'horse and buggy doctors' in the days when roads were bad, and often snow or mud was deep. It is not recorded that he ever refused a call if he was physically able to respond to it. In a very real sense those who follow him in the practice of medicine owe much to him and his generation for the legacy of good will and respect accorded them by reason of the devotion and labors of such physicians."
"In view of all this and much more which we feel and cannot put into words, the Howard County Medical Society in memorial session assembled wish in this manner to express the sense of loss we feel at his death, and to honor the memory of our departed brother and fellow-practitioner."
The resolution was signed by a committee appointed by the society to draw it up. Members of the committee were Drs. E. R. Clarke, B. D. Lung and E. M. Shenk.
Rites of the Masonic Lodge will be given at the funeral service Wednesday afternoon, and the following pallbearers have been named: Drs. E. R. Clarke, E. M. Shenk, W. H. Hutto, W. R. Morrison, Garvey B. Bowers, and George M. Jewell.
