BALL, JACOB B. 2/24/1749 D. 11/29/1809 served as a private in Capt. Isaac Halsey's militia. Parsippany in 1776; in Capt. David Bates Co. of Minute Men; Col. Sylvanus Seeley's Battalion, Morris Co., N.J. militia (S-499) He lived in Hanover, NJ; married Mary Vergason, and is buried in the First Presbyterian Church burying ground, Morristown, NJ D.A.R. 73043 BATES, DAVID - b.1725 d.9/7/1820 Served as Capt. in Eastern Battalion, Morris Co., NJ militia (S-381) (Munsell: 34) He married Phebe Tappen, and lived in Hanover Twnship. Buried in Whippany Cemetery, D.A.R.
I have visited Jacob's grave at the Morristown Presbyterian Grave Yard. The headstone says he died in 1808 and other records agree, He was not recognized as a minuteman by the Federal park Service, but my Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution put up a marker and my kids and I put up flags when needed.
Will is printed in NJ wills, Vol XI, Page 20. Served in Revolutionary War as a Private in Cpt David Bates Company of Minute Men, Col Sylvanus Seely's Battalion, Morris Co. Militia.
